Cranberry Mountain Nature Center

Please click on the link below to enjoy some shots of our successful 26th Scenic Mountain Triathlon on July 10, 2011. About 100 volunteers stepped up to make this event happen. There were 134 entrants this year. This is just one of the events sponsored by the Chamber each year.

Cranberry Mountain Nature Center located at the junction of the Scenic Highway (150) and Route 39/55 serves as a visitor center to around 30,000 visitors a year. It features an exhibit hall that includes forest ecosystem, live snakes, and a live trout aquarium and other critters, seasonal wildflower wall, animal tracks and more; and a auditorium that offers short films on request (Cranberry Glades, Wildflowers, Smokey films, and more) Special programs and tours can be arranged.

The center also features two short nature loops with interpretive signs. Loop one is a 800 feet trail with a variety of wildflowers. There is an accessible walkway in front of the center which features views of the Scenic Highway and a native wildflower garden. We are in the process of finishing our greenhouse which will produce milkweed plants for the native wildflower garden.
