The Heritage Center has a rich assortment of interpretive exhibit boards that represent the theme, " The community of Richwood and its strong sense of unity was shaped by its location in the forest."

GAULEY RIVER RANGER STATION
The Ranger Station is located just a mile from downtown Richwood at the start of the Monongahela National Forest. They not only have a wealth of information, but sell a range of items pertaining to the National Forest and nature including books, maps, clothing and gift items.

CRANBERRY MOUNTAIN NATURE CENTER
The Cranberry Nature Center is the prime source for information gathering within the National Forest.
The Center has many interesting features that appeal to visitors of all ages and backgrounds, including an exhibit hall, auditorium, events and programs including a Saturday snake show. It also features a native plant garden, a nature trail and many events geared toward children. While visiting the nature center, take a few minutes to walk the interpretive trail around the grounds, signs will point out tree species and list the many uses of the trees. There is also a beautiful overlook where you can enjoy a picnic.
The Center is seasonal, it opens April 15 and closes mid-October. Hours are Thursday through Monday from 9am to 4:30pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
